Ruud van Nistelrooij scores in friendly match

05/30/2008

Netherlands 1-1 Denmark
Ruud van Nistelrooij scored Holland’s single goal in a friendly match against Denmark. Other 2 Real Madrid miedfielders played for Holland, Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder. Robben made a great match, being if not the best, one of the best players on field.

This was a preparation match for Holland before EURO 2008. Holland will play against Italy, France and Romania in group stages.

Why Raul is my favorite player

05/29/2008

He began he’s carreer at Real Madrid in 1994, in a game against Zaragoza. He didn’t score on his debut, but did it next week, against arch-rivals Atletico Madrid, in a game played at Santiago Bernabeu. Since then, he started breaking many records:

  • top scorer for Spain national team with 44 goals
  • UEFA Champions League all-time scorer with 61 goals
  • 2nd goal-scorer for Real Madrid in history, after Alfredo di Stefano, with 292 goals
  • 2nd most appearances in Real Madrid shirt, with 655 appearances

He won everything with Real Madrid, and has many individual trophees as well. In my opinion, Raul is the best captain Real Madrid ever had, one of the most important figures in world footbal and probably the most successful in spanish footbal. His attitude on field is exemplar, he is fair play, has gone for 3 seasons without receving a yellow card and has never been sent off. Rarely he’s angry on field, rarely I see him protesting about referee decisions.

He wasn’t called up in spanish national side for EURO 2008. Luis Aragones hasn’t motivated his decision, when asked why Raul wasn’t called up, he’s very “professional” response was “I’m the coach, what I say goes.“. Raul didn’t express his anger about this decision, never criticised the coach. He found the strength to wish the players good luck and support them.

How many players, wich had such a great season, scoring 23 goals in all competitions, would have said this? How many players wouldn’t have criticized the coach about this foolish decision?

Raul was in Bucharest a few days ago, I had the chance to see him play, he even gave me an autograph. Altough it was only a friendly match, more like a charitable event, his commitment and devotion to the game of footbal were amazing.
There were times when Real Madrid won nothing, when players were criticized, many coaches fired, people were angry. I ask only this: how can you be mad on someone who devoted his whole life to Real Madrid?

I only hope that Raul will have the chance to win a trophy with Spain sometimes, because he’s 31 and time is running up for him. When he will be recalled, I will be Spain’s supporter to win the World Cup or a European Championship.

A true idol

Diarra stays

05/28/2008

Real Madrid defensive miedfielder, Diarra will play for Real Madrid next season, despite the interrest from Inter Milano. The Mali captain seemed to have lost the battle with Gago for a place in starting eleven, and because of that, he’s morale was pretty affected, being unsure about his future. Altough he permanently stated that he wants to continue in Madrid, his situation was unclear. Speculations that Real Madrid would sign Roma’s Daniele de Rossi or Alberto Aquilani made Diarra’s future even more unclear.

Real Madrid sports director, Pedja Mijatovic had a meeting with Bernd Schuster and agreed that Diarra is needed next season in the Madrid squad, as he is a important piece in Schuster’s plan.

Another theory is that Inter Milano is no more interrested in signing Diarra, mainly because ex-coach Mancini was sacked yesterday and the new coach seems to be Mourinho. The portuguese manager would be interrested to land Chelsea’s Michael Essien.

Schuster: Robinho stays

05/27/2008

In an interview for spanish newspaper AS, Real Madrid chief Bernd Schuster stated that Robinho will not leave the club this summer, despite interest from several english and italian clubs. It is well known that Chelsea are willing to pay 35 million€ to land the Brazilian forward to Stamford Bridge. Altough Robinho has lost his form and place in starting 11 in latest games, Schuster states that Robinho is happy in Madrid and both club and player want the collaboration to continue.

Robinho suffered a stomach injury several months ago, before the Champions League match against Roma, and since then it appears that he is out of form. He was also involved in a scandal with prostitutes among other brazilian players, scandal that affected his relationship with the club even worse.

Schuster spoke about Arsenal’s Hleb, stating that Real Madrid is interested in the player, and Cristiano Ronaldo, wich “would be welcome and would find his place in Madrid team“.

Raul & Salgado in Bucharest

05/27/2008

Monday night, in Bucharest took place an event called Champions Evening, a charitable football game between Romanian Stars and World Stars. Raul, Salgado, Figo, Solari and other world stars like Roque Junior, Francesco Toldo, Hidetoshi Nakata, Olivier Dacourt, Maniche, Sa Pinto, Sergi, Edgar Davids, Pauleta, Jorge Costa, etc. played for World Stars against romanian players from all generations, like Hagi, Popescu, Balaci, Ilie, Stelea, Petrescu, Lucescu, etc.

The match ended 3-5 for World Stars, with Raul scoring 2 superb goals.

More than 500 000€ were donated for children.

C. Ronaldo = 50 million€ + Robinho + S. Ramos + Diarra

05/26/2008

According to Marca, Manchester United are demanding 50 million€ plus three players from Real Madrid in order to release Cristiano Ronaldo. Those 3 players are Robinho, Diarra and Sergio Ramos.

Those 3 players are evaluated at 100 million€, IMHO: Diarra 25 million€, Robinho 35 million€, Sergio Ramos 40 million€. So the overall value of Cristiano Ronaldo would be 150 million€. This must be a joke.

I really hope Calderon and Mijatovic are not crazy to let Sergio Ramos or Diarra go. Robinho is a very talented player, but his life outside field is pretty restless. He must focus on his family and career. I guess I would agree Robinho + some money in exchange with C. Ronaldo.

There are rumours that Real Madrid will aproach the owners of Manchester United, the Glazer family, in order to convince them to sell Cristiano Ronaldo. I really hope this won’t happen, it wouldn’t be pro from Real Madrid board.

Real Madrid – Cassano saga

05/25/2008

Antonio Cassano was a few years ago one of the most promising talents in italian footbal. I remember that 5-6 years ago, Real Madrid was willing to pay big to land him to the Bernabeu. Like many other players, Cassano’s life outside field was too hectic. He lost his position in Roma’s starting eleven, became unwanted at the club from the managers, team-mates and supporters. So Real Madrid bought him for 5 000 000€. At that time, I wasn’t aware of the rough time Cassano is having, and I was very excited for this transfer. I remember that he even scored on his debut, it was a game in the Spanish Cup.

Soon he started to show his “ugly side“. I guess that night life in Madrid is the same as in Roma, or even more tempting. He gained weight, was out of form for several months, rarely he appeared on the bench. I read in the spanish newspapers that he allways was unhappy about the decisions the coach made regarding him. What would you expect, considering his form and attitude?

Now he is at Sampdoria, on loan. I don’t know what they did to him, but I can’t recognize him. He is totally changed, was even voted the best player this season in Serie A. Now he’s going to Austria and Switzerland for the EURO’s. He is still a Real Madrid player. Now the directors of Sampdoria want to transfer him for good. I am pretty curious what the Real Madrid staff will decide about this player. I hope they let him go, because it’s clear that he found a club where he can play to it’s best. If he remains at Real, he has no chance to be in the first eleven. Cassano even accepted from Sampdoria a wage-cut, so he’s salary will be smaller than what he gets now, he accepted this just because Sampdoria is a small club and they couldn’t afford to pay for his transfer. So it’s clear where he wants to play, let him be happy…

News about C. Ronaldo’s transfer to Real Madrid

05/24/2008

This is starting to go crazy. After Cristiano Ronaldo won the Champions League, he stated that he wants to stay at Manchester United. Now, he says that he’s dream is to play for Real Madrid. What should you believe? I am starting to believe more and more about this transfer, specially because of the moves Real Madrid made these days: Real Madrid will sign a deal with an insurance company to protect themselves against the fluctuations between euro and english pound. Considering a big amount of money involved in the transfer, Real Madrid will be able to save a “few” million euros from this deal.

There are reports that the car Cristiano Ronaldo should drive if he plays for Madrid, an Audi, wich is Real Madrid’s official car, is already prepared, with his name on it.

Another speculation is that Robinho will be involved in the transfer. He stated that there is interrest from Chelsea, but the interrest that Manchester United has on Robinho is well known.

When this whole story started, I was rather sceptic, now I am confident that he will sign for Real Madrid this summer. I think that Robinho + $$$ will be the deal.

Oh, I’m so curious about how this ends up 🙂

Preferencial option for Dani Aquino

05/24/2008

Real Madrid is interrested in signing Real Murcia’s Dani Aquino, only 18 years old. It seems that Real Madrid have a preferencial option in signing the player, wich means that no mather what offer other clubs make, Real Madrid needs to match it and they get the player. Interrested clubs in signing Aquino are Arsenal, Barcelona, Valencia, Chelsea, Liverpool, Sevilla.

Dani Aquino has won some important trofees with Spain Under 17, including Runners Up in South Korea World Cup in 2007, and European Champion in Belgium, same year. Currently, he is a member uf the Under 19 Spain team.

This is a good player, and seeing what big clubs are after him, I think Real Madrid should take him ASAP and send him to stay on loan for another season to a first division team (Real Murcia was relegated).
